Trinity Sunday-2023

Next Service:  Feast of St. Barnabas next Sunday  at 10:30am

Today begins the season of Passiontide. During this time the Gloria Patri is not said and all images and statues are veiled. Why is this the case? Well, this is due to the fact that the Gospel refers to “Jesus hiding Himself.” It is a time to reflect on the great tragedy that will happen on Good Friday. It is time to reflect that Jesus will not only be hidden but His life will be taken by the Crucifixion on the Cross. As the preface for Passiontide says, “He will be vanquished.”

This post is short, but I think these are words enough to reflect upon the mystery of Passiontide: What do we do when our hope is gone? What do we do when we are in the dark? The answer is we search for the light. We follow the light.
